2021.09.18 16:34 MGRockwell I want to spend more time adventuring, less time farming/cooking
I don't necessarily mind the top end of the game being "harder".
I just don't want to spend more time farming food. Pre-H&H I was basically at the end of the game and have played with friends but also played through basically everything solo as well.
Generally I was using cooked meat, turnip stew, and one other item (sausages/lox meat for tougher stuff, grilled neck meat for running around). These items were plentiful to get and I didn't have to spend too much time to get them and didn't have any anxiety over my "adventuring efficiency" over how much food I was using compared to what I was getting in mats. I was using good food but not the best food and I didn't find combat to be "hard".
I don't mind combat being a little harder, and for me it really won't be because now I can just switch to using bread/lox meat pie/sausages or something like that. What it does mean for me is that I have to spend a higher percentage of my time killing/breeding lox, farming barley, baking bread, etc. Things I don't really want to spend my in-game time doing over and over again.
I'm not trying to whine, just giving my opinion on why the update is still a dissatisfier to me. I don't want easy mode, I just want to feel like my character and base that I've spent 100 hours on is self-sustaining enough for me to spend minimal time on farming food and still be able to roll around on the plains and do my vikingly activities.
I want to spend more time fighting, wandering around, sailing, exploring - less time farming and cooking.
The game has been worth what I've spent on it and more, and I wish the developers good luck.

2021.09.18 16:34 ConradT16 One undiscussed, but colossal benefit of ComputerShare - discovering shills that slip past Satori's watchful eye.
Preface: I have 70% of my shares in ComputerShare. I think it's the lynchpin to the squeeze, and while I am not a financial advisor, I encourage everybody who hasn't yet transferred to at least spend 20 minutes reading up on why it's so beneficial.
We, as a community of like-minded investors, have not yet reached a concrete verdict on the strength, weaknesses and opportunities that ComputerShare provides. We don’t have a complete image, but we do have a highly developed sense of how helpful and important Direct Registration can be for the MOASS. Specifically, there appears to be no downsides, other than the slightly less-than-perfect sell order fluidity some people have experienced.
In other words, the only potential con of this system occurs on an individual level, rather than a collective one. While a select few apes may be inconvenienced by the minutes of waiting they’ll endure during MOASS before their sell order goes through, the act of DRS can only be described as a boon to this squeeze play. Therefore, assuming any given ape is more concerned about their own financial situation than that of strangers on the Internet, it is entirely, unequivocally, indisputably illogical to oppose those who promote DRS, and to campaign for apes to consider keeping their shares in standard brokerage platforms instead of transferring them away from the DTCC - unless said opposer hasn't read any ComputerShare DD yet somehow confident that DRS is a bad move and is abnormally empathetic, enough to try and dissuade others from transferring OR is working as a shill. Why would any ape who's on the fence about transferring their own shares attempt to prevent others from doing so, knowing that the more apes who transfer, the sooner they'll get paid? (due to the constriction of the DTCC phantom share pool and reasons I won't get into here).
I believe anyone who is outspokenly anti-DRS/anti-ComputerShare is extremely likely be a shill, operating under the instructions of stopping as many apes as possible from transferring their shares away from the jurisdiction of the DTCC. Even those that simply have not read enough about the subject would not argue so passionately against ComputerShare while knowing they don't have the information to back their claims up with. However, I do suggest you direct any CS-hater to the front-page Criand DD before accusing them of being a shill.

2021.09.18 16:34 NotYourJob Looking for a custom mousepad for workbench cover
Hey guys, the title basically says it all. I have a fairly large work bench I would like to cover with a giant mouse pad. I’ve been using gun mats but their small and require me to puzzle piece them together. However basically every “gun mat” out there is the same material as most mouse pads (I’m actually using one from opticsplanet as a mouse pad right now) so I figured that would be a better place to search for a custom one since basically no one makes custom gun mats. The issue I’m running into is the mats I’m finding in the dimensions I like aren’t quite thick enough, most 2-3 mm but I would prefer 5mm for more cushion.
Just trying to see if the people that are way deeper into this world know more and could point me in the right direction
My bench is 8’ x2’ x3 1/2” thick and one corner has part of an octagon cut out so I can swivel a vice and still use it. I would prefer to be able to cover the entire thing and put the vise on top but if not I could do just the non cut out portion which is 77” long.
Any ideas on where I can get something like this? Most places stop their sizes at 48”x24” and I would prefer to have one solid piece so I don’t lose stuff between the seems. It would also be cool to get a image put on it too but that’s not a priority.
2 promising places I have found are- X-ray pads- the most promising, especially with the custom shape options. Probably can only do black. However their thick mouse pad section just says “no products were found matching your selection”. So maybe they’re sold out?
Your playmat- custom images, no custom shapes, but they can make it in the length I want (77”) however, they’re thin, at 2mm thick.

2021.09.18 16:34 successbroh Where did Satoshi store his 1 million Bitcoin?
If Satoshi mined his 1 million BTC more than 10 years ago, Cold wallet storages like Ledger or Trezor didn't exist back then.
I wonder where did Satoshi store all his Bitcoin? a pendrive? a PC? a Hot wallet?
I am just asking in a speculative way, if you were Satoshi where would you store them BTC and be secure enought at those early crypto times?
At this point he can't move them BTC to a safe cold storage like Ledger or Trezor because everyone will notice.
in the hipotetic case that Satoshi does a cash out of a small amount of BTC and his identity gets exposed and it results that it's gen1us aut1st1c chinesse guy that currently lives in Switzerland,
What do you guys think would happen to him? Would he be a wanted criminal by some goberments? Would he get k1lled and disapeared?

Yesterday I noticed one type of weed popping up, most likely from the topdressing I'm going to guess. Any recommendations on how to deal hopefully remove it.
I'm also in Canada hopefully what's suggested is available locally!
Thanks, so much.

2021.09.18 16:34 _______________E Not knowing history does not mean you're destined to repeat it
History doesn't count as its own subject to me. It's a lot of information, basically a large pool of very messy and mostly unreliable evidence, that's useful for making specific points if you're careful. But no historian can predict the future. The best we can do is look at things like communism and say "every time that has been tried, it has failed." The conclusions people draw from that are usually either that it can never work or that it hasn't been given a good shot. Were either of those perspectives based on the couple hundred years of nuance and worldwide conflicts? No, they made broad statements that were determined entirely by our modern, mostly ignorant, and previously held perspective.
I think that's what happens with pretty much any problem you try to solve with history. The conclusions you draw from history are essentially always going to be based on your perspective more than real facts. Even what we do know from history, like that World War II ended with the defeat of the Axis in 1945, generally doesn't tell us much. You can try draw conclusions from it, but the reality is that no one alive today has enough context to understand very many of the specific perspectives that led to the conflict, or what was happening during the conflict itself. Instead, we usually look back and take very shallow conclusions that just support what we already believe, like "Nazis were evil" or "Nuclear weapons saved more lives than they destroyed." Some may be true, some may be false, but does who won or lost and when really tell us detailed information about the philosophies of those involved? Or does it just tell us who held more of the power? Or is there even any way to conclude something specific from such a broad and complex thing? And WW2 is a recent example, try doing that with something that was translated multiple times from a peasant's uninformed account in the middle ages!
We also aren't doomed to repeat history if we don't know it. I don't think we need past experience to determine that going to war over minor conflicts or killing and enslaving people is wrong. More specific lessons are less reliable because of the inherently biased nature of our historical sources, and less specific lessons like those above are generally obvious. I'm not saying history is useless, but it is primarily useful as an archive of soft evidence that should be treated similarly to witness testimony in court; it can make or illustrate a point, but it should never be enough to fully convince you on its own.
